LSE Launch Event: Preserving Women’s Publishing Histories: Editing Women in the Archives

This panel discussion, dedicated to exploring the significance and legacy of SHE magazine, and to marking the launch of the Editing Women Archive, was hosted by LSE, London on 24 September 2026. This was a particularly special occasion as it also marked the 100th Anniversary of The Women’s Library.
Speakers included Ayesha Karim, the daughter of Zuhra Karim, SHE’s founder, who also contributed to the editing of SHE; Sulema Jahangir, partner of family law firm, Dawson Cornwall; and Arati Banerjea, a volunteer with the Mukti magazine collective during the 1980s. The session was chaired by Dr. Nilanjan Sarkar of the LSE South Asia Centre and enabled through the work of Dr. Gillian Murphy, Curator for Equality, Rights and Citizenship at LSE Library.
