The Earth Painter: Riffat Alvi

In a brief but powerful and focused interview with Art TV published in the July 2019 issue of SHE, senior artist Riffat Alvi reminisces about the start of her career, her choice to work with “earth pigments”, and exhibitions that she has managed at the VM (art) Gallery in Karachi for over 35 years. Alvi began by teaching at the Karachi School of Arts and Pak American Cultural Center. She always prefers working with natural pigments mixed with water, as opposed to tube paints. Alvi exhibited at numerous local and international galleries throughout her career.
